Job Description
The Speech Therapist is responsible for provisions of direct patient services, including diagnosis, consultation, assessment, and treatment. The incumbent is also responsible for participation in departmental/community programs and hospital wide programs associated with the professional services. The Speech Therapist complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment. The incumbent is responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates current knowledge of clinical practice and procedures in speech language
- Good oral communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Demonstrate expertise in facilitating various modes of service delivery for treatment (individual and group)
- Commitment to standards of excellence and the concept of accountability within the established professional standards of professional practice and the organization
- Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- French language proficiency is an asset
Education and/or Certification
- Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology or equivalent – Required
- Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario – Required
- Relevant internship/placement education experience – Preferred
